Custard

You can make this custard classic-style or in the microwave — it’s super easy! Full recipe available here.

To Assemble the Trifle

Ingredients:

  • Lemon cake, sliced

  • Lemon syrup (from the cake recipe)

  • 1 large punnet strawberries, sliced (or any fresh fruit you like)

  • 1 cup (250 mL) whipped cream

Method:

  1. Layer half the lemon cake, drizzle with lemon syrup, add half the strawberries, then pour over half the custard in a trifle bowl.

  2. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, syrup, strawberries, and custard.

  3. Cover and chill the trifle for at least 5 hours, or preferably overnight to let the flavors meld.

  4. Just before serving, top with whipped cream.
