Homemade Granola Recipe
This homemade granola recipe is a game changer. It costs about $6.50 to make a big batch and tastes better than most of the stuff you’ll find on a supermarket shelf. It’s crunchy, slightly sweet, and super easy to customise with whatever you’ve got in the pantry.
Total cost: approx. $6.50
Servings: Makes about 4 cups
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15–20 minutes
Ingredients
1/3 cup honey (or sugar or any liquid syrup)
1/4 cup nut butter (or oil)
2 cups oats
1/2 cup nuts (any kind)
1/2 cup seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, chia etc.)
1/4 cup flour
Pinch of salt
Cinnamon, optional
1/2 cup dried fruit or chocolate, optional (added after baking)
Method
Preheat oven to 160°C (320°F).
In a large bowl, mix together the honey and nut butter until smooth. Add a splash of water if it’s too thick.
Stir in the oats, nuts, seeds, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until everything is well coated.
Spread the mixture evenly on a lined baking tray.
Bake for 15–20 minutes, until golden and just crisping up.
Let cool completely - it will firm up more as it cools.
Once cooled, stir through any dried fruit or chocolate you like. Store in an airtight jar for up to 2 weeks.
